Monday Motivation — June 9, 2025

Motivation doesn’t show up first—you do. Action creates momentum, and momentum builds motivation.

Let’s be real—sometimes it’s really hard to stay motivated. There are the things that need to be done, the things that should be done, and the long list of things that could be done… and then there’s the couch, the scrolling, the snacks, and the glorious escape from adulting. And honestly? Adulting kind of sucks sometimes.

Today’s Monday Motivation is for both you and me.You, dear reader, need to hear that it’s totally okay to relax sometimes. Rest matters. But you also need to remember that there are moments where you’ve got to push yourself—gently, but firmly—to do the things. Whatever “the things” may be for you.

For me, yesterday was a complete wash. I did next to nothing. At the time, it felt fine. This morning? Not so much. Regret settled in pretty quickly, and I knew I needed to break that foggy “meh” feeling before it turned into a full slump. So I did the thing I really didn’t feel like doing: I made a list.

It wasn’t a massive list. It started small—dishes done while the coffee brewed. Then some work for our piloting business. Then this: my blog. My favorite place, and sometimes, my best therapy. I have pages of content I haven’t shared yet—some waiting for the right timing, others sitting in limbo because, let’s be honest, they’re raw and maybe just a little too personal (for now). But writing this? Feels good. Feels productive. Feels like a win.

And that’s the whole point. It can be hard to get started. But once you cross one thing off your list—just one—you start to feel a shift. A flicker of energy. That little voice inside goes, “Okay… maybe I can keep going.” And the next thing becomes easier.

So if you’re sitting in the middle of a motivation drought today, here’s your reminder: you don’t have to feel motivated to start—you just have to start.

One small thing. That’s all it takes to build momentum. And with momentum comes that little rush of accomplishment that makes you want to keep going.

Small steps. Bold steps. Keep taking them.
