A Monthly Journal Prompt Invitation

Updated: Feb 13

Starting this month, I’ll be sharing a new journal prompt on the first of every month—along with my own personal response. My goal is to encourage self-reflection, expression, and connection.

Journaling isn’t just a creative outlet—it’s also a powerful tool for mental well-being. Research has shown that writing about thoughts and emotions can help reduce stress, improve mood, and even strengthen overall mental health.

  • A study by Dr. James Pennebaker at the University of Texas found that expressive writing helps process emotions, leading to reduced stress and improved immune function.

  • Research published in the Journal of Affective Disorders (2018) showed that structured journaling can decrease symptoms of anxiety and depression by promoting emotional regulation.

  • A study from Cambridge University (2013) found that just 15–20 minutes of journaling three to five times a week can lead to long-term improvements in mental well-being.

For me, journaling is an important part of daily life. I keep several journals—one for writing, a couple of bullet journals for tracking and daily journaling, and a small one in my handbag for those moments when inspiration strikes while I’m out and about. Whether it’s noting a passing thought, an idea for a story, or simply reflecting on the day, I love having a space to process and record it all.

If you’re looking for a journal to start your own journey, I have an affiliate link to the ones I personally use on Amazon. If you decide to purchase through my link, I do earn a small commission—at no extra cost to you. Just a little way to support my work while helping you find a journal that works for you! The Journals that I use are shown here. Purse Journal, Daily Bullet Journal , Daily Journal, Tracking Journal

Journaling is deeply personal, and there’s no right or wrong way to approach it. My prompts will be open to interpretation, allowing you to respond however feels right—whether that’s a single sentence, a stream of thoughts, or something more in-depth.

You’re welcome to join in! If you feel comfortable, I’d love to hear your responses. But please know that sharing is entirely optional. Your journal is yours, and it’s okay to keep it private.

Let’s explore our thoughts, emotions, and experiences together—one prompt at a time. Look out for the first prompt in February, 2025, and let’s take bold steps forward in self-discovery.
